About the Course
This training discusses social media and the part it plays in mental health. Topics include social media use across the lifespan, ways in which social media is used as well as the spread of information, both accurate and inaccurate, across social media. We specifically discuss how social media can play a negative role in mental health and the connections it has to risk factors relating to suicidal ideation. We also explore the ways in which social media use can decrease the risk of suicide by increasing protective factors. We discuss veteran suicide specifically and how social media plays a role in helping or harming suicide rates. Resources for individuals in crisis are also provided.
This training is appropriate for all audiences over the age of 18.
