About the Course:
This is the third and final video in a series of videos exploring suicide prevention and special populations. This video explores sex and gender as it relates to suicide prevention. There are many similarities between the two sexes: male and female, but there are many difference as well. Those difference impact how the service member experiences their time in the service as well as their experience beyond their time in the service as they transition into civilian life. Beyond basic anatomy, there is also a difference with how individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ experience their time in the military. We explore the history of LGBTQ+ members in our armed forces as well as how their experiences differ compared to heterosexual veterans. We tie all of this to suicide risk and identify that certain groups based on sex and gender may be more at risk compared to others.
This training is appropriate for all audiences over the age of 18.
